A rectangular scarf featuring an interesting, fun and very textural 3D type pattern in a mainly garter stitch base.

Named for its resemblance to waves at sea, this rectangular scarf features an interesting, fun and very textural 3D type pattern accomplished by clever use of increases and decreases on a mainly garter stitch base.

The pattern chart is fairly large and the writtens instructions are no shorter, yet many knitters have stated that the pattern is easily memorized after working only a few repeats.

Feel free to use any yarn of your choice. However, I do recommend yarns with some sort of wool component for greater stability of the “waves”. Gauge is not all important either, but do keep the stitches fairly firm in order for the pattern to really pop.

The pattern was originally published in Danish under the name “Bølger” (Danish for “waves”) as one of the designs in my second, self published booklet Sand – strik med inspiration fra stranden (“Sand – Knits Inspired by the Sea”).
